"The magnetism that swirls
In the sky, land, and sea
Are the exact same currents found twirling
In the electric ocean within me.
I am a moving vessel of energy.
And if my emotions do not
Flow up, down,
Within and around,
Then I am not alive."

VI. A Metamorphosis
Have you transformed someone, young one? Have you felt the drain on your body, the ache in your chest? How long did it take you to recover from letting a part of yourself form another? It takes time. There are parts of you that could never recover, that are changed through the transformation of someone else. Because no change is without consequence, not even to the changer.
And this is no small thing to have given unto others, whether they call it a gift or a curse. What they believe is no less true to them, but I believe the transformation is neither; it is simply necessary.
Please understand. I don’t mean the transformations we perform, but the transformations all around us. Change is inherent, it is driving, and though it can be so very painful, it is also beautiful.
The universe itself transforms. It was a deep breath, and now it exhales slowly, always expanding. Stars blink out and fade from view and memory, but new ones still form even if you may not notice until constellations need new names. There are planets out there left adrift and cold, but others are created around young and eager suns.
I know that this is hidden from you, too far away to see and sense. But you must know of this same magic in the shifting earth. I have seen violently slow collisions raise mountain chains out of deep dark depths, and I have seen glaciers plow through the earth to leave lakes behind. I have seen living things turned into stone and dead things given new life in the hands and thoughts and memories of others.
Without the transformation of esk, there would still be transformation of the earth. I have to believe that there is something unique about the earth and her ever-changing nature that allows transformations to take place. I do not know what things would look like if I had not given transformations to you, but I know she would still and always be changing.
You have seen the shifting seasons, the snow and rain and mud and light. You have seen flowers wither and die to be reborn in the spring, fragile eggshells picked apart from the inside by curious new life, and half-forgotten bones, picked clean by those that need them. You have seen fear and joy, shock and anger, tears and laughter.
And the crystals that come to you in the moment of transformation - they have taken centuries or millennia to form, from pressures untold and temperatures unimaginable, to become what they are; beautiful reminders of everything metamorphosing around us. Remember that when you display them. They are part of you now, a shifting, wonderful being.
Even if you have not yet transformed another, know that many are transformed just by having known you. You hold change in your heart, and your self will change time and again, always making new marks in a tapestry of changes that will never stop growing.
Sometimes, change is not something we choose. It is something that happens to us.
