"The world is full of magic things, patiently waiting for our senses to grow sharper."

What is a Collaborative Worldbuilding Game?
A Collaborative Worldbuilding Game (CWBG) is a form of creative roleplay game that is focused on crowdsourcing content and stories. A CWBG is designed to put creative power into the hands of its players by providing an open-ended world for creative exploration and development. Content framework is provided for everyone to build upon, but it's up to the players to decide how this framework is interpreted and expanded upon. A CWBG is essentially an artistic open-world game where players are treated as co-creators of the spaces and ideas to be explored.
Your stories shape the esk world
At TWWM we are all contributing to the development of the esk species and world. When a player thinks of a new backstory, ability, or type of anatomy for an esk they are redefining the limitations of what these beings are capable of. This species is designed to be open to nearly limitless possibilities. They are not templates to recolor or dolls to accessorize; each character is unique and designed based on what inspires you. The story of your esk's creation and how they navigate their world sets a new precedent for what is possible. The TWWM canon is always growing and evolving thanks to the inventiveness of our community.
Calls for lore
Players can create the lore just by participating in general gameplay but we also provide prompting and activities as inspiration or for targeted development. There are many prompts available in the game to give your stories a starting point and we host regular events with storylines to be explored. TWWM is also launching a new feature that will give specific calls for lore by posting targeted questions about the esk world for players to address and contemplate. There may be realms to design, non-playable characters to develop, or new traits or abilities that will be crowd-sourced from player contributions. Official calls for collaborative lore will be more structured than general world-building and may deal with the larger subjects of the esk canon. These are opportunities for players to make great impact on the expansion of the game concepts.
Official calls for lore will be announced on the TWWM blog.
Canon agreements
The esk canon grows based on the stories and submissions received in the group, but having some basic structure and ground rules helps set the stage so we create a cohesive concept together. We must all agree on some restrictions in order to collaborate successfully; use these world and species limitations as your springboard for content creation.

If you are ever unsure if your contributions are compatible with the established species and world guidelines you are always welcome to contact the TWWM team for constructive feedback.
