Other Stories...
The Greenhouse provides themed MYOs to the community that tie into the esk world through NPC and other stories.

The following prompts are intended as jumping off points for building your character's story, and grounding them within the TWWM universe. You will not receive a bonus for fulfilling them, but we hope they serve as inspiration for connecting your esk to the others around them, whether they're from the same story or not! Alternatively, we hope they might serve as talking points for esk who have different lifestyles, to see how they might relate to esk in this situation.

Prehistoric

The Earth was once so different that it would be unrecognizable to our eyes - just like the Wanderers and esk that occupied it back then. At first, the Wanderers had almost amorphous manifestations, less well-defined, until the biomes we have today developed and the Wanderers, resonating with the land, took shape alongside them. Only ancient esk, transformed when the Wanderers were just settling into their identities as we know them, can remember what the Wanderers must have been like then, but they, too, have seen vast amounts of change all around them. Many of the esk created back then had boundaries that are long gone today, and have sought out transformations in an attempt to become familiar with the world again. Other, perhaps luckier, esk were created as their boundaries settled around them into their modern forms, and became pioneers in shaping today's world.

In what ways do you remember the past?

Remnants of a lost age
  •  These esk were all originally created by the Wanderers, long before modern memory. As such, their earliest experiences with the Wanderers may be vastly different from our current understandings of them. While the Wanderer who originally transformed them must have identified with a biome at the time, that may not be so true for the other Wanderers.
How has your esk's relationship with the Wanderers changed over time? Has their opinion of the Wanderer changed? Can they still remember what the Wanderer who transformed them used to be like? What do they think of that Wanderer's current attitude? Do they get along with that Wanderer at all? Have they seen them again, or, perhaps, do they see them regularly? Furthermore, some of them may have met other Wanderers when they were not yet fully formed, and their biomes did not exist yet. What is it like, to know those esk still exist today, but vastly different? How do they compare with the memory? Can they even recognize those esk, given that they are so different now?
  •  Prehistoric esk transformed from objects are in a unique situation. Their boundary may have changed a lot over time, but due, perhaps, to the strange circumstances of their transformation, they may not have necessarily felt it necessary to seek out another transformation. Still, they were all created from objects that may have once been commonplace or significant - but which is just a relic now.
What was your esk's boundary like when they transformed, and what's it like now? What sort of effect have they had on it over time? What do they think of esk who may have been forced to seek out a secondary transformation, to better suit the biomes that were changing around them? Do they ever desire the same, possibly in the future? Having never been retransformed, they are missing out on some part of the esk experience - or is their own the more complete or whole one? Is the object that they were still transformed from still around today? How does it affect your esk's identity or resonance with the modern world? Do they fit in? Can they find other examples easily?
  •  Many of these esk received their second transformation after their boundary underwent a lot of change - or perhaps they just decided that a different biome suited them better. Either way, their new homes are nothing like their old.
What do they remember most about their old boundaries? Is anything similar? What's the biggest change? How did the change happen - was it something they tried to prevent, or something they helped along, looking for a fresh start? Do they like their new forms, or do they feel as though they were forced into making this decision by their circumstances? Who did they seek out to perform their second transformation? Did they pick a Wanderer? Are they wary of Wanderers, given their old knowledge of them? How did they select a new boundary and biome? What do they miss most? What are they most eager to explore? How long ago did their second transformation happen, and how did they adjust to their newest life? Are they still adjusting? What do they regret?
  •  These esk have been around for a long time - many of their old friends may have grown tired, and chosen to move on for one reason or another. Esk cannot die by natural causes, of course, but some opt to seek out a final transformation when they are tired, or if they feel they can contribute better that way.
What is anchoring your esk to the Earth, and keeping them from their final transformation? Do they feel their age at all - psychologically or physically? What do they think of modern esk? How do they remember their fallen friends? Are there old relics that they still visit - or are they more focused on the future they can build with new esk? Have they ever been tempted to seek out a last transformation? What do they think of the practice - and of the relics they may have encountered? What sorts of stories can they tell, about the past, and about why their friends may have given up their forms?

Steadfast Memories
  • These esk have been around since pre-history - but unlike humans, esk don't need writing to communicate their history. These particular esk are highly motivated and curious denizens of their respective boundaries, and their long lives as esk have given them time to know and understand their boundary very well. Over time, their resonance with their boundary has allowed them to manifest a familiar representing an animal species that may be hard to find or extinct in their boundary - but which must have once thrived there, regardless of whether your esk has actually encountered that species in life. For most of these esk, this is a badge expressing their deep bond with their boundary, which they have toiled to cultivate.
Why does your esk identify with their familiar? Do they feel any particular kinship, nostalgia, or admiration? When did they first learn about this species of familiar? What do they know about it, and how have they learned? What sort of mistakes might they have made along the way? How did they adjust to them? How does their relationship with this familiar inform the way they interact with their boundary, whether preserving it as is or attempting to guide it in a certain direction? How does it allow your esk, and the others that encounter the pair, to understand the history of their boundary?

  • Your esk has deeply-rooted connections with their boundary. Their dedication over the long years has allowed it to survive in the present: maybe not exactly as it was when they were first transformed, but similar enough that it hasn't lost any of its magic as a source of power for them. Over time, they have seen many other esk come and go - esk who've had to seek out other transformations, and esk who've wanted to learn from some of the oldest esk around. As some of the more experienced residents of their biome, they were instrumental in developing it as a social sphere and environment for later esk and for living creatures to come.
How does your esk's vast knowledge and age affect their relationships with other esk? Do they have old friends who were transformed around the same time? What sorts of memories do they share, which newer esk couldn't possibly imagine? What sort of customs and social rituals has your esk played a part in developing? How do they treat esk who might be less comfortable with their role than they are? Being that your esk has lived for so long without a second transformation, what do they think of those who do want to make that sort of drastic change? Are they curious at all, or do they disdain the process? Have they thought about the idea? Have they helped anyone else seeking an abnormal transformation?
