ikkit | raaga

Picture
Picture
Ikkit on Raaga:
Despite living in two of the most intertwined biomes, these two don’t actively seek each other out. Ikkit regards Raaga as his grumpy older brother; he thinks Raaga is too uptight, grouchy, and bitter, and needs to let himself be more whimsical. Ikkit rolls his eyes at Raaga’s, in his opinion, uppity, holier-than-thou attitude, but mostly is upset that Raaga ignores him when walking through the forest. That’s very rude. If Raaga makes the mistake of meditating in a forested area, Ikkit often lays harmless traps, tricks, or sets up elaborate mazes while Raaga is lost in meditation. Their more benign interactions usually revolve around Ikkit trying to stump Raaga with riddles, though, he usually returns to Ikkit in a few days with the correct answer, citing, “I meditated on it.”

Raaga on Ikkit:
Ikkit is an extremely irritating younger brother, but Raaga feels that he should maybe spend more meaningful time with him. But, god, that is truly a monumental task. Raaga, however, secretly likes the riddles Ikkit presents him with. Though he appears to begrudgingly accept them, the puzzles prove to be a fun distraction from his usually morose thoughts about the earth changing and his tumultuous relationship with his family. Sometimes Raaga will deliberately meditate in a forested area to prompt Ikkit into messing with him.

ikkit | aevre

Picture
Picture
Ikkit on Aevre:
Ikkit does not appreciate Aevre’s attempts to thwart his fun. She is way too serious and a stick in the mud about his little games, and ugh, it is so annoying. Deep, deep, deep down, Ikkit respects the control Aevre has over the Polar biome, but spending all her time rescuing people is so boring because it’s way more fun when they’re lost. Ikkit also does not understand Aevre’s vocal dislike of 000. What’s not to like?

Aevre on Ikkit:
Aevre deeply dislikes Ikkit’s callous pranks that he plays on the lost and weak in his biome. She feels he is irresponsible, cruel, and does not live up to his duty as a Wanderer. If Aevre catches Ikkit scuttling in the taigas that overlap their biomes, she will absolutely confront him: either by tailing him to make sure he does not harm her biome’s inhabitants and vagrants, questioning his motives, or directly thwarting his plans. If a member of her Arctic Circles spots Ikkit, Aevre has instructed them to immediately summon her. She does not understand how Raaga has the patience or oversight for Ikkit’s games, and often she gets frustrated with Raaga if she knows he is working on one of Ikkit’s riddles.

Ikkit on Majanthi:
In the sparse dryland forests of the world, sometimes Ikkit will encounter Majanthi on her walkabouts. He tries in vain to tease, puzzle, or lead her off her path for a bit of harmless fun. Majanthi, however, has spent years honing her unwavering focus, and seems to pay Ikkit no mind. Sometimes, though, if Ikkit sticks around in the heat, he may encounter a student of Majanthi’s attempting to complete a strange quest as a part of her tutelage. Maybe, Ikkit thinks, he and his sister are more alike than she thinks.

Majanthi on Ikkit:
As Majanthi’s roaming rarely keeps her in one place for too long, and Ikkit much prefers the shade and shadows of fuller forests, the two do not often cross paths. Majanthi does not hold a strong opinion about her brother, as his antics rarely affect her and do not phase her. Though she has not interacted with him much, she holds a lingering curiosity over his object-transformed esk and their similarity to her own. Has Ikkit, she wonders, ever come across one of her purified spirits? What does he think of them? How creative is her older brother, behind his tricksy antics?

ikkit | seventh

Picture
Picture
Ikkit on Seventh:
In the still lakes and shallow creeks that wind through the hollows of the deep forest, you may spot two ominous entities. Ikkit sees Seventh semi-often, and is probably the one esk Ikkit does not play pranks on. He appreciates the behaviors that constitute Seventh’s morally grey conscience. Ikkit chatters on and on about his day and his latest riddles or creations and delights when Seventh twees and hums back—even if Ikkit cannot understand them.
Seventh on Ikkit:
There is a cold, cruel, unwavering side to Seventh’s behavior, but they seem to be at relative peace at Ikkit’s side. Sometimes one can almost hear Seventh’s agonizing scream dull down to a gentle hum.

ikkit | vetru

Picture
Picture
Ikkit on Vetru:
Unfortunately for Vetru, they are one of the easiest esk to rile up. Usually Ikkit won’t even bother with such low-hanging fruit—it’s only fun to watch someone’s resolve slowly break. However, on especially boring days, Ikkit may venture out to a forest’s edge to see if they can spot Vetru. When the stars align and Vetru is out on the edge of the Plains, studying a plant or chatting with the inhabitants of their biome, it’s easy pickings. One of Ikkit’s favorite pranks to play is using his shadow elemental to project strange shapes, figures, or phenomena that Vetru the Scientist would be interested in on the border of the forest. It’s only a matter of time before Vetru angrily charges at them, sending Ikkit cackling back into the depths of his home. Another favorite tactic of his is a little crueler—giving Vetru impossible riddles or problems to solve. Vetru will spend countless hours turning over in their head until they get frustrated, give up, and return to the edge of the Plains only to learn the answer is something nonsensical.
Vetru on Ikkit:
Vetru is easily riled up by Ikkits antics, and doesn’t like being near him. Despite the millennia they’ve known each other, Vetru and Ikkit have yet to develop a mature relationship yet. Nobody is certain they will ever develop one. Ikkit’s favorite move is to harass Vetru at the border of the biomes and then dive back into the cover of the canopy before Vetru can catch him. Quite a few trees have unfortunately been struck by an angry lightning bolt because of Ikkit’s harassment. Vetru simply cannot understand why 000 and Ikkit have such a good relationship, and is more frustrated when 000 does not give them a straight answer.

ikkit | makoa

Picture
Picture
Ikkit on Makoa:
In the lush island jungles, sometimes Ikkit will spot Makoa out in the ocean or holding a rancorous party that spills out onto the beach bordering the forest. Makoa’s parties can be so boring. There are games, Ikkit notices, but no fun games. Because Makoa rarely makes it on shore, the two brothers don’t talk as much as they used to. When they were younger, much, much younger, the two were as thick as thieves, and would amuse themselves with the small jokes they would play on their siblings.
Makoa on Ikkit:
Makoa takes Ikkit’s pranks in stride and laughs them off with a joviality and appreciation unlike his other siblings. Though Ikkit’s pranks rarely work on Makoa, he still goes along with his younger brother’s antics with an enthusiasm Ikkit can find nowhere else, even if they do not go according to plan. Makoa mostly wants to hang out with his brother more! He sees that Ikkit is so controlled about his image and his persona, especially when not deep in his domain, but feels that Ikkit should learn to let loose. Ikkit is too invested in keeping up appearances as a tricky, scary wanderer and Makoa wishes that he would drop the act for a while and hang out like they used to.

ikkit | x

Picture
Picture
Ikkit on X:
Ikkit sees X fairly often—he likes dipping into forested city parks for the thrill. X has a lot of good terror territory and Ikkit feels like they use it fairly well, but nothing is as mysterious and frightening as a forest. Ikkit cannot really understand or relate to the sadness and darkness within X, but still believes that his youngest sibling has the right idea in toying with humans.
X on Ikkit:
X thinks it’s cute that humans build little shrines to other biomes in their concrete jungles and begrudgingly respects their need for greenery. When X encounters Ikkit in a forested city park or at the edge of a forest, the two bond over their interactions with humans--Ikkit with his games, and X with their fascination and deals. Both have a friendly rivalry about who has the scariest folktales, the greatest impact on humans, and the origins of human folklore and mythology. Ikkit is very proud of the folktales of old, of humans getting lost and twisted in the depths of an unforgiving trickster forest. X, however, likes to argue for the significance of more modern folklore and the harrowing, shadowy corners of human cities. Both try and lay claim to certain cryptids they each believe originated because of them.

raaga | aevre

Picture
Picture
Raaga on Aevre:
Another pair of siblings that seem to find each other fairly often. Despite Raaga's cold exterior, Aevre brings some warmth to his life when they meet. It is difficult to break Raaga out of his routine, but Aevre manages to find a way. Due to their somewhat similar biomes, Raaga and Aevre often swap stories about rescue missions, flora and fauna, humans wandering into their domains, and the like. Raaga feels like he can easily share his struggles with Aevre, both about the climate and their family. The two have very similar feelings regarding both. He derives a sense of pride from his ability to be a supportive part of Aevre’s life, despite their extremely different personalities and interests.
Aevre on Raaga:
Aevre has a deep respect for her elder brother, and the two share a strong bond in their later lives with the similarities of their biomes and the shared frustration they have over family drama. Though they have a helpful, supportive relationship, Aevre gets frustrated that Raaga is not, in her eyes, more active in protecting his biome. Aevre uses jogging and hiking up snow banks to calm her mind. She feels as though she is best attuned to herself while she and her body are in sync. Traversing the dizzying peaks that overlap their biomes proves to be some of her most intense workouts, where she tries to calm the most turbulent of thoughts. She doesn’t realize it, but Raaga often notices Aevre working herself to exhaustion to block out problems she does not want to confront. Raaga, however, is her opposite: stewing in his troubled thoughts until he can order them. Aevre’s approach is to run until she cannot think anymore. Aevre and Raaga are fundamentally different, but often the fresh perspective each offers is invaluable to the other.

raaga | majanthi

Picture
Picture
Raaga on Majanthi:
Raaga is polite and kind to Majanthi when they cross paths. Though Raaga rarely sees Majanthi on her seemingly random walkabouts, he has a fondness and respect for her. He is quiet about his love, but if they meet, Raaga takes an active interest in her wandering journeys, healing updates, and especially her meditating. The two swap insights about their practices and revelations made during their meditations; Raaga often imparts wisdom about remaining grounded, whereas Majanthi stresses the importance of letting your form rest where it may, without forcing it into a still position. Raaga also offers to pass messages between Aevre and Majanthi, but is confused and a little concerned if Majanthi turns him down, citing, “I’ve spoken to her enough recently.”
Majanthi on Raaga:
Majanthi regards Raaga as removed, uncommunicative, and with only a passive interest in biome-care. She absolutely thinks he should take a more active role in his biome, and perhaps she has expressed these concerns to her twin, Aevre. Majanthi can be frustrated by Raaga due to their almost similarities--the overlaps in their interests seem to accentuate their differences. Despite their connection to meditation, Raaga is too monolithic for Majanthi to be close to. Aevre and Raaga have more of a relationship, and despite her sister vouching for him, Majanthi feels a bit isolated from getting to fully know him.

raaga | seventh

Picture
Picture
Raaga on Seventh:
Raaga encounters Seventh eerily float-walking down frigid mountain streams, circling hikers near waterfalls, canyons with rushing rivers, or even standing completely still amongst the thick mist of secluded hot springs. To Raaga, Seventh is too loud, theatrical, and hard to understand. Sometimes Raaga feels like he catches a word or two he understands, but that must just be his mind hearing what it wants to hear. After encounters with Seventh, and especially after hearing...something, Raaga deeply meditates for days afterward. Raaga is a little unnerved by Seventh, but knows how close Majanthi is to them and is more apprehensive than hostile. While deep in meditation, Raaga recounts feeling deep sorrow and empathy emanating from Seventh. He sometimes allows himself to ponder why, and even more rarely dares to think it may be out of mourning for the disasters that often happen in both of their biomes.
Seventh on Raaga:
If Seventh is spotted in the Mountain Biome, they do not linger long. Seventh’s general aura combined with the turbulent waterfalls they occasionally visit seems to ward most other esk away, including Raaga.

raaga | vetru

Picture
Picture
Raaga on Vetru:
At first, Raaga did not tolerate the whiny, destructive, self-pitying nature of his younger sibling. As Raaga resonates with the strong, calming energy of the mountains, to him, Vetru is the diminutive foothills lapping at his shores. However, over time, Raaga’s dislike for Vetru has been slowly eroding. When the two interact, Raaga acts as a sounding board for Vetru’s anxiety or enthusiasm over native plants in their biome. Though Raaga doesn’t have the energy to keep up with Vetru’s turbulent thoughts, he thinks it’s enough for Vetru to simply be heard. Besides, Raaga very much enjoys hearing about Vetru and their scientists’ efforts to study and conserve Plains Biome plants. Perhaps his Sentinels can learn something from Vetru’s team.
Vetru on Raaga:
Vetru greatly admires Raaga for his calm, cool, and collected presence paired with his persona as a proper, respected Wanderer. They are not-so-secretly very jealous of the respect and veneration that Raaga so effortlessly garners. However, try as they might, Vetru cannot seem to perfectly emulate Raaga’s commanding presence. If Vetru tries to mimic Raaga, they get frustrated and bottle up. So much so, that plains esk can’t help but notice. If other Plains esk comment on how they miss the old Vetru, it fills them with enough joy to last a few weeks at least.

raaga | makoa

Picture
Picture
Raaga on Makoa:
Makoa is Raaga’s elder, but not by much. Raaga admires Makoa’s ability to be so easily thrown into the earth and also to be the first to drift away from 000. In their childhood, the two brothers were glued at the hip. The duo often snuck away on adventures to dangerous heights and tumultuous lows, stashing their treasures away from disapproving eyes. Some of these caches may still remain, hidden in the wild and untouched for millennia. Though they were very close in childhood, they drifted a bit apart. Makoa is social and approachable when he wants to be, but when Makoa doesn’t make the effort, it is difficult for Raaga to keep up with their relationship. When they do meet, it’s a nice and pleasant respite. Even though Makoa has changed drastically over the years in appearance and somewhat in personality, Raaga still recognizes the same shared desire to escape from their lives for a while.
Makoa on Raaga:
Though their friendship has always remained strong ever since their early childhood, Makoa misses the times when he and Raaga would wander free and unburdened. Deep down, Makoa knows that he fruitlessly tries to recreate the same feeling of unbridled bliss, but can never quite recreate the same joy and wonder of exploring a new world together with someone you love. When Makoa sees Raaga, the two will talk and talk and talk about their lives but, after a while, both of their routines seem trite and stale. Regardless, Makoa always tries to get Raaga to relax, to unfurrow his brow, to come for a swim. Raaga politely declines the swimming, but Makoa feels that he is unhealthily stuck in his ways and would benefit from trying something new now and again.

raaga | x

Picture
Picture
Raaga on X:
Raaga avoids X at all costs. He finds X creeping around small village outposts high in the mountains, or wandering in long-abandoned gold mines nestled deep within the earth. Raaga thinks X reeks of death. There’s something intrinsic, instinctual to Raaga about celebrating the earth’s life—especially the unlikely and undeterred flora and fauna that compose Raaga’s biome. And the fact that X is tossing around transformations left and right upsets Raaga deeply. If Raaga allows himself to untangle his messy, overgrown thoughts about X, Raaga realizes he sees hints of his younger self in X: what it’s like to be free and untamed and coming into your own with reckless abandon. However, Raaga, somewhat bitterly, waits for the other shoe to drop, when X realizes that life necessitates decay. Raaga is jaded over centuries of hiker deaths and wishes X would respect the humans they love so much enough to not inspire within them often deadly curiosity.
X on Raaga:
X thinks that Raaga is just as lofty and out of reach as the biome he holds dominion over. They sense that Raaga dislikes them for some reason, but isn’t close enough to him to know what. For humans, scaling mountains has represented the ultimate heights and pinnacles of human achievement. X shares humanity’s awe and respect for mountains as well as their drive towards the challenge mountains facilitate. However, X has never shared this with Raaga as they have been afraid to get close to their older brother.

aevre | majanthi

Picture
Picture
Aevre on Majanthi:
As Majanthi and Aevre are twins, they hold a special, almost supernatural connection. Through the ups and downs of their childhood, the twins have always been in sync. Whether it be bonding over their simultaneous connection to their biomes, or their individual meditative methods, Aevre and Majanthi have shared everything they could together. Their relationship has not been without tension, however. Aevre often wonders when and why Majanthi adopted this mystic persona, how she became so different in her later life. In her darkest thoughts, Aevre  also feels a flood of private resentment towards Majanthi for still being 000’s golden child, even through all of the pain 000 put them through, while she has become the prodigal daughter. She does not know if she is able to keep these thoughts from Majanthi, but she tries to bury them where her twin cannot find.
Majanthi on Aevre:
Aevre and Majanthi are twins, and their deep connection since childhood has miraculously been retained into their later life. Majanthi has always been able to dream, even in her infancy, and sometimes lucidly dreams about leaving her form and traveling around the earth. Early in the twins’ separation, Majanthi made the startling discovery that she could, if sufficiently attuned, astral project into the Polar Biome. This contact was accidental and startling for both Majanthi and Aevre. Over the years, however, and with intense concentration, Majanthi has been honing this ability to be more precise and strong. The two use this ability to communicate often, unbeknownst to the rest of their family.

aevre | seventh

Picture
Picture
Aevre on Seventh:
Though Seventh is close in "age" to Aevre and Majanthi, Seventh is closer to Majanthi. Aevre tries to understand Seventh, but does not have the gift for it that Majanthi displays. She is, privately, a little jealous of Majanthi and Seventh’s easy connection that she cannot share. Or, when she peels back the layers of her hurt, Aevre finds that she is more frustrated in herself that she cannot understand Seventh, and therefore cannot protect her younger sibling like she desperately wants to.
Seventh on Aevre:
If Seventh is near Aevre, it’s never for long. The two seem to keep their distance, but have a quiet stare-down of...understanding? Sometimes the two will sit, a healthy distance apart, and stare at quietly falling snow.

aevre | vetru

Picture
Picture
Aevre on Vetru:
Aevre and Vetru bond over their shared love of fitness. These two see each other fairly often, and when they do, they thunder across the tundra for little jogs. They rarely talk about important or deep things, but when they run, it’s nice. Aevre respects Vetru’s attempts to be a better Wanderer, although she is all too aware of the destruction Vetru is capable of when they are emotional. Tundras in particular are very susceptible to wildfires, so Aevre secretly started running with Vetru in order to keep a close eye on them. However, as time goes on, Aevre has begun to warm up to Vetru and the network of Plains biome scientists they’ve accumulated.
Vetru on Aevre:
Whenever these two siblings meet, it’s always a spectacle to behold, a race to remember. Several flash-snowstorms have started because of their antics. Vetru usually wins, but they’re a sprinter, not an endurance-runner like Aevre. The two have been seeing each other more and more lately, and have become fairly friendly. Vetru avoids talking about their family, though, and especially not about 000 with Aevre. Aevre is the most vocal about her frustration with 000, and Vetru feels awkward because they are on good terms. Maybe one day the two will grow close enough to really discuss their feelings about 000, but for now, they run.

aevre | makoa

Picture
Picture
Aevre on Makoa:
Makoa and Aevre have not always been the best of friends, but lately they have become more and more friendly with each other. Aevre sees herself as more mature than her eldest brother, which sometimes frustrates her to no end. Makoa shirks on his duty to protect the inhabitants of the Marine Biome, but she realizes there’s something deeper, not as malicious as Ikkit, to his supposed negligence. In childhood, Aevre looked up to her two oldest brothers, and tried to be more mature, more in tune with the earth like them. Perhaps that’s where her maturity began. In more recent times, Aevre often sees Makoa’s head bobbing through the icy seas, or lazily lounging on icebergs in her biome. The two exchange pleasantries and sometimes swap childhood stories, but what Aevre really wants is to probe Makoa about his early relationship to 000. As she is the most vocal about her strained relationship with 000, Aevre tries to get Makoa to open up about his past sadness, anger, and rejection surrounding the relationship with their mother. However, Makoa is notoriously difficult to sway from his nihilistic, party-boy personality, and she has yet to be successful.
Makoa on Aevre:
Makoa and Aevre see each other quite often. One of Makoa’s favorite “hiding spots” is deep in the frigid polar waters, dodging icebergs and glaciers, and lazily resting upon far away frozen shores. Not many esk brave the gelid, unforgiving poles of the earth, so usually the only esk he will encounter there is Aevre. Everything for Aevre is work work work duty work, so Makoa, like with most of his siblings, tries to get her to unwind and relax a bit. He thinks a little letting go would do anyone, but especially Aevre, a lot of good. Makoa tries to teach his athletic sister how to surf, and she tries to teach him how to run on ice (he is not good at it). They compromise on ice-sliding down glaciers, which they are about equally matched at.

Deep down, under the permafrost layers of denial and deflection, Makoa understands Aevre’s falling out with 000 all too well. He knows he seems ridiculous avoiding family drama conversations with Aevre, but Makoa is too old, too jaded, too numb, and knows her fury will eventually fizzle out like his into barely bubbling nihilism. What’s the point of being angry? Nothing matters, nothing will come of it, 000 will never listen, and Aevre will never be over it.

aevre | x

Picture
Picture
Aevre on X:
Aevre and Raaga have, on occasion, discussed their youngest sibling, X. She agrees with Raaga’s concerns, and thinks things would be so much easier for her if X’s dumb, curious humans did not try to push themselves or get themselves hurt or lost in her biome.

However, Aevre recognizes the same sense of duty that she, X, and the humans they inspire, share. Perhaps it was Majanthi that gently pointed out to Aevre that she, in some ways, needs X’s influence to have a purpose. Aevre rarely sees X’s form stark against the whites and blues of her biome; mostly, she sees them in the shadows of research stations, spectral footsteps echoing across rusting, cold metal. Possibly at Majanthi’s suggestion, Aevre has attempted to strike up an awkward conversation or two. Few esk have witnessed their meetings, but they have whispered to each other that the duo seems to be crossing paths more and more frequently as the years go by.
X on Aevre:
It fascinates X how much of human history has been preserved in ice, and how humans will seek out the most unforgiving of climates to discover more, even though the Polar Biome is boring as all hell to them. The endless expanses of white, featureless snow are not to X’s taste. They prefer to stick to the quietly whirring machinery around research base stations and especially around the Seed Bank. Even if her biome does not interest them, X deeply appreciates Aevre’s attempts to rescue humans when they are in trouble. X sees this as one of their siblings accepting their interests. However, mostly X feels that Aevre is too cautious about her rescues. She pulls the plug too early for X’s taste—if only the expedition had turned the corner, if they had pushed themselves a bit further, then the humans might have discovered something life-changing. Her attempts to dissuade humans from exploring the frigid lands of her biome read to X as a bit counterintuitive. If Aevre loves her biome so much, wouldn’t she want humans to feel invested and protective of it as well?

majanthi | seventh

Picture
Picture
Majanthi on Seventh:
She has spent eons in the arid climates, feeling the vibrations of the earth, traversing the paths of reverberation one might call ley lines. In the rare moments when she has no students, no disturbances, no rituals, Majanthi devotes her time to studying the language of the earth. She knows Seventh uses the vibrations of the earth to communicate; this is painfully obvious to her. The frequency, the pitch, the rhythm: all surround her while deep in trance. However, there’s something...else to Seventh’s speech. Something she cannot quite grasp. Some other grammar that Seventh is using that the earth is not. And she is quietly determined to find it.

Despite the insurmountable barriers to their communication, Majanthi has managed to reach out to Seventh. Though she needs to seek out the rare locations and times where they may meet, Majanthi sometimes sings to Seventh. She’s excellent at understanding patterns, and although their meetings are infrequent, Majanthi has been able to parse out Seventh’s speech and habits, and sketch out a rough personality, which excites her to no end. Once, she swears, Seventh told her a joke. Still, Majanthi struggles to treat Seventh like her sibling, instead of a puzzle to be solved. Her excitement and devotion to her work leads her to have to remind herself to reel it in and remind herself of Seventh’s personhood.

In one of the earliest times Majanthi reached out to Seventh, projected the thought and the feeling deep into the earth and into the shimmering water of the oasis—she asked, tentatively, What name do you call yourself? She did not hear an answer as much as feel it—but, it answered, Seventh. The only name I’ve ever known
Seventh on Majanthi:
Though Seventh and Majanthi are rarely seen together, Seventh seems most at peace around Majanthi. Even when their ice elemental begins to pool around their tail in the surrounding Arid heat, Seventh stays by Majanthi’s side for days on end. Eventually, though, she stretches, stands, and the two siblings part ways.

Majanthi on Vetru:
Majanthi and Vetru get along quite well. To Majanthi, Vetru’s scientific pursuits and her healing arts are two sides to the same coin of understanding and protecting the earth. Their students often get into impassioned discussions or may develop rivalries with each other. Majanthi has developed a vast sea of patience over the eons of her teaching and journeying, and usually that patience is enough to sustain a good relationship with her younger sibling. However, Majanthi thinks Vetru’s childish rashness deeply affects their biome and should be discouraged. If only they’d slow down and meditate, then Vetru would be able to control their turbulent emotions. It reminds Majanthi a bit of Aevre; running to escape and until exhaustion, until Majanthi taught Aevre how to channel her energy into calming her thoughts. She wants to encourage Vetru to do the same so that they can know a bit of peace.
Vetru on Majanthi:
Vetru likes Majanthi enough, but is frustrated with her sagacious advice. She never seems to have anything useful for Vetru, because they know that everything would just be miraculously easier if they could calm down and meditate. Mostly, though, Vetru is extremely jealous of Majanthi and her status as 000’s favorite despite the way she defied 000, and despite the fact that Vetru is always actively seeking a relationship with 000 but can never quite be her favorite.

Majanthi on Makoa:
At first, Majanthi thought of Makoa as flaky, irresponsible, and selfish for not protecting his biome. But over time, after seeing oceans rise and fall, walking across familiar barren land and knowing Makoa and ancient creatures once swam miles above the sweeping dunes, made her think about how truly ancient her brother’s connection to the ocean is. Majanthi feels Makoa’s presence now and again in the desert; she hears the lingering wake of flipper-strokes long past upon rocky shores. She sees Makoa less often, but if they interact, she does not know what to say. Majanthi wants to say she understands his wanderlust, how he uses his nihilism as a crutch, like she does with her work. She wants to say that she knows why he was the first to leave the nest all those lifetimes ago. She wants to say that she loves him, that she misses how his stories would make everyone bubble with light-laughter, or shine with jealous awe at the treasures he would find and make. But she doesn’t know how to start. Maybe someday she will.
Makoa on Majanthi:
Makoa was always closer to Aevre, and is kind of awkward around Majanthi because of it. In his later life, however, Makoa and Majanthi have grown the teeniest bit closer. Though their personalities seem like polar opposites, Makoa and Majanthi find commonality in their propensity to wander away from their problems. Majanthi confronts her feelings messily in private, whereas Makoa ignores his until the end of time. Makoa recognizes her flightiness and some of his early existential crises in her, and strives to help her be more self-serving, given time. However, most of all, the two bond over their enthusiastic love for birds, and often compare notes about what species they’ve seen or how migrations are going across their biomes.

Majanthi on X:
Majanthi and X are almost as close as Majanthi and Aevre. Although X, the youngest of their group, struggled to find a place on the earth for a long time, Majanthi was really the first to take them under her wing. The two explored the hot river basins of ancient civilizations together, watching humanity make its first steps into the world. Majanthi has a propensity to welcome outsiders and to make people feel special, and X was and is no exception. She has always delighted in X’s company, especially when they would sit and create little trinkets for hours and hours. The growing impact of humans on the environment of the Arid Biome has strained their relationship somewhat. However, Majanthi has never blamed X for their exploits, despite her thinking that X’s trust in humans was too naive, too short-sighted to realize the irreversible change humans would bring to the earth.
X on Majanthi:
Long ago, when water and sand became soft, rounded, cities of clay--X and Majanthi stood overlooking a bustling river delta. When X finally settled into their energy, albeit scattered and transient like themselves, their first home was found within the arid biome. In these early years, Majanthi and X were each other’s only true companions. Though, their companionship has not been without struggle. As humans began drastically shaping the landscape of the arid biome, Majanthi’s concerns and the furrow in her brow grew deeper. She knew, instinctively, that humans would alter the biome and the earth as they knew it. X, however, was quick to assuage her fears. In a myriad of strung together voices, X ventured that humans are just a new type of animal, and are now a part of the environment. “You do not scold the owl for burrowing or the jerboa for eating the grass,” X would often say. On one rare occasion, X pleaded, “Look! They have art! They heal and take solace in being alone together in this world that burns them and hurts them and pits them against each other. They are like us, trying to survive and repair fractured relationships too.”  Together, the two developed their love of creating. They fashioned little trinkets and scattered them throughout the Arid and newly born Developed Biome, leaving them for humans to discover. During these early years of observing in creating, X developed their glass elemental out of the molten hot Arid sands.

Seventh on Vetru:
It is rumored that Seventh is drawn to freshwater places of anger and pain, as they always appear right as disaster strikes. Vetru seems to be one such beacon for Seventh—Seventh is strangely drawn to Vetru, despite the two never seeming to have a connection.
Vetru on Seventh:

The scientist in Vetru is interested in Seventh’s existence and situation. Although Vetru cannot understand Seventh’s songs, they understand, intrinsically, the pain of being ignored or belittled and not being who they want to be. However, Seventh also represents the cooling fresh rain that rarely comes when they need it most, and thus, harbors a deep and ugly bitterness born from their fear of inadequacy.

Seventh on Makoa:
Though one would assume saltwater and freshwater would cause Seventh to avoid Makoa, they are often seen gently gliding along estuaries and fresh oyster beds. Makoa is unusually quiet and contemplative around Seventh’s presence, and the two are sometimes seen at their biomes’ intersection gently floating and enjoying the quiet company.
Makoa on Seventh:
Makoa and Seventh don’t need words or songs to speak. The two share an innate understanding of water—its movements, currents, motion, ripples, force, life. Sound cannot capture the emotion of their dancing and gliding through water, the cool and easy stillness, the thundering ferocious rapids, the dark and morose depths. Makoa likes to think he feels his sibling’s songs rather than hears them. He can sense their frequency and vibration as easily as he can feel water lapping at his sides. And what Makoa feels is a mutual respect, patience, and pain.

Seventh on X:
Whether they are uncomfortable in spaces of large activity, or unhappy with the poor water quality, we will never know. But Seventh seems extremely tense, loud, and screechy when in the Developed biome. If Seventh encounters X, one might feel the loud visceral screaming die down into a melancholic, supersonic wail. Why Seventh does this is unknown.
X on Seventh:
As freshwater is an essential human need, X sees Seventh popping up in nooks and crannies fairly often—in ancient aqueducts of empires long-forgotten, standing silently in fountains and baths where philosophers debate, gliding eerily under drawbridges, across moats, or beside boats. Though X does not understand their brother—Seventh seems to disappear whenever X gets close—they are both misfits in their family. X recognizes this and sees potential for a great relationship, but Seventh seems closed off to them for some reason.

Vetru on Makoa:
Occasionally, in the coastal prairies, Vetru will spot Makoa offshore and try to catch up. Vetru and Makoa are not very close; the two are not hostile towards each other, but not exactly friends yet. Following Vetru’s transformation and subsequent mentorship of Keahi, the two have taken it upon themselves to further investigate the impacts of areas of climate and biome shift on esk. Perhaps Vetru will work up the courage to ask their eldest brother about his memories of swimming across these plains where Vetru now runs. Vetru might even introduce him to Keahi, in due time.
Makoa on Vetru:
Makoa thinks that Vetru worries way too much, and should just let their fears of inadequacy and accidental destruction go. Things happen, so why worry? Makoa does not have a deep relationship with Vetru, but is interested to hear about how some of his former oceans are doing.

Vetru on X:
Vetru somewhat blames X for the destruction humans do to the plains and the wildlife of the grasslands. They often must work past their emotional reactions to understand X. Deep down, Vetru knows they project their own insecurities about the destruction their lightning elemental causes onto X. Despite Vetru’s struggle about relating to their youngest sibling, there is a transience that is common between them. Humans have migrated across the plains for eons, and though Vetru and X have had some charged confrontations in the past, perhaps if they gave it a shot, the two could form a friendly relationship forged from being the youngest siblings.
X on Vetru:
Migratory patterns of humans across the Eurasian steppe and the Americas meant X and Vetru interacted fairly frequently in their younger years as Wanderers. Naturally, they did not get along at first. Vetru tended to lash out at X because they projected their insecurity over their destructive elemental onto their youngest sibling. In reality, Vetru was feeling the effects of industrialized agriculture and war campaigns across the plains, and X was the manifestation of that strife. X is no stranger to this treatment from their siblings. But perhaps if the two were to talk, they would bond over their shared memories of rolling hills, swaying grass, and the palpable taste of newness and adventure.

Makoa on X:
Makoa rarely travels ashore and X rarely journeys out to sea, but their relationship is tense when they are near each other. They are at the two opposite ends of their cohorts—Makoa was the first to leave 000, and X was the last. Because of their gap, Makoa and X also have a gap in understanding. Makoa feels dark, deep, eons-old confusion over why it took so long for X to leave, to find a purpose outside of their mother. Makoa also easily blames X for the destruction humans cause to the Marine Biome, as it is one of the most affected by their mistakes and greed. To say Makoa is hostile is an overstatement. However, he is extremely tense when in the presence of his younger sibling: a strange and unfamiliar energy to Makoa that neither esk nor he himself has witnessed in a long time.
X on Makoa:
As the oldest and the youngest siblings, X feels a large chasm between them and their eldest sibling. However, despite the gap, X has always looked up to Makoa. They were always fascinated with how Makoa was the first to leave—how it seemed like Makoa boldly and quickly forged his own path, and used his passion for the ocean as a drive to break away from everything he once knew. X struggled for the longest time to find something that resonated, a place, a feeling, an energy, and really admires Makoa for figuring his out so quickly. Despite their admiration, X knows Makoa blames them for the state of the ocean. Feeling guilty, despite not contributing to the Marine Biome’s degradation, X is often seen around Marine research facilities, animal rescues, or volunteer beach cleaning events.
